Stirling...Linlithgow...and Glasgow all in two days!

Well, this was our "free weekend," which translated means we got to schedule our time. So most of us decided to we wanted to go see the Stirling Castle and the Wallace monument on Friday. We got up and left after breakfast to catch the bus to Stirling. Once we got to the bus station we had to wait an hour for the bus to take us to the Castle. Most of us caught that bus, I shall leave the one who didn't nameless, and we headed up to the castle. it was a really cool castle. It had a lot of hiding places and things that college kids can climb on and in. I had a lot of fun there. We ate lunch in the castle at the unicorn cafe..no joke. And then we headed back down the huge hill to catch another bus for the Wallace Monument. After a bit of waiting and getting lost and wondering where we were..we found the right stop and got off. The Wallace monument was huge and the hill looked more like a mountain. Good thing there was a shuttle to the top! We got up there and finally we could begin the trek to the top of the monument. 246 stairs later I was there and I felt like I had just climbed Mt. Everest. Don't get me wrong, I know I'm not in the greatest shape, but the stairs weren't the problem the winding, narrow staircase was the problem. But no worries, I made it just fine and didn't get to dizzy. So all of the girls took pictures and had a grand ole time up there, and decided that it was time to climb back down. 246 stairs later and a head ache from not trying to get too dizzy we made it down. It was really neat, because every 75 stairs or so there was a room with different things about William Wallace and and the Scottish history. I saw the Wallace sword and one room had a bunch of figures in of important people, including John Knox. Who was considered the father of the reformation movement (I learned that in Bible). Anyways, it was really neat and now I can say I conquered the Wallace Monument. Our Next stop was kinda a last minute on. One of the couples that has worked with us here invited us to Linlithgow to see the palace and the Loch there. So most of us wanted to go, so that night after dinner they came and picked us up. Linlithgow palace and Loch was really neat and I'm glad I went. Before we went to the palace we fed some ducks and geese and swans. I have never been that close to a Swan before and they would eat straight from my hand! After that little side adventure we went to the Palace, which is the palace and church where Mary, queen on Scots was born and christened over 400 years ago! How cool is that? There was a big hill in front of the castle which screams to college kids "roll down me," so we did. Well most everyone did, I tried but I hit a rock a few turns in and stopped! Yeah for bruises! Anyways, we explored the castle and the Loch for a little while and then we headed back to the Carronvale. We didn't get back until after 10, and every ones feet and legs were worn out! I slept good!

Saturday, six of us went to Glasgow for the day...well half the day to go explore and just to say we've been there! We did a lot of walking, which didn't help our sore legs, but we have fun. There were a lot of street entertainers and some break dancing groups and some guys who looked right out of Bravehart, not kidding. There was an artist doing some paintings on the ground that were really cool, so I took a picture of that. Anyways, Glasgow is definitely for the shoppers at heart and not as much for the tourist, site-seeing, but we made a day of it anyways!
oh and don't be alarmed I took a lot more pictures, but I didn't want to give away all of the cool pictures! I'll more later! God Bless!
